One surreal night in Jaipur

There are moments in my travel writer’s life when I feel like I’ve accidentally entered a parallel dimension. When it seems like I’m living somebody else’s life, or watching a film unroll… When I need to pinch myself to make sure I’m not dreaming…

One such night happened on my trip to India last month. As a guest of Micato Safaris I was invited to a special performance and dinner at the private residence of the maharaja of Jaipur.

It was a hot desert night, I was wearing a beautiful green sari that I had fitted just for me back in the hotel room, sitting on the floor next to the maharaja’s father. In front of my eyes unfolded a scene out of One Thousand and One nights.

Here, thought I’d share a few glimpses, in hope you can also feel: how surreal!
