Archives from the original EverTheNomad

The original EverTheNomad blog was born in 2008 and lived happily until early 2014. It had a rich and exciting life, which featured fun series like guest posts from expats writing about their adopted homes (from Santiago to Gabon), an interview series called Local Voices Croatia and Global Glimpses that showcased snapshots and mini-stories from my travels. It supported several Passports with Purpose fundraisers, brought me many friends I still keep in touch with and provided a platform for writing whatever and however I pleased. It lives on in these pages. Please poke around.

Ever since that first bite, she began a personal quest for more of...

Travel as I like it

Today is one of those days when I ache for languid time on the road, afternoons spent lounging on a sun-washed square. Those days when there is no rush to get to the next place. When the destination is the here & now. I am writing this from Medellín, Colombia. I arrived yesterday afternoon, to...

Passports with Purpose

In 2005, I visited Cambodia for a brief weeklong stay. The country's history and its people touched me so that I wrote the following article about it. Five years later, Phnom Penh still appears in my dreams, I often fantasize about moving to Cambodia for a volunteering project, the voices of street children still echo...

Confession: I take free trips

Hello dear readers. Exactly because you are dear to me, as is this little blog of mine, I'd like to talk about the hot topics in the travel writing and blogging world: freebies/press trips and the new FTC rules that kick in on December 1. So on this mid-November day, after returning from Arizona just...

New York City skyline

Yesterday was a sunny Sunday so my man and I decided to walk across the Brooklyn Bridge. This iconic stroll is among my favorite New York City activities. In fact, all my visiting friends are required to cross the bridge on foot when in town for the first time. As on most warm-weather weekends, the...
