Count the homeless in NYC

Hey New Yorkers out there! Aching to take a little trip and break up the long albeit pretty warm winter? Here’s a little journey you can take without even leaving the city confines. On January 28th, 2008, the Department of Homeless Services will conduct the sixth annual Homeless Outreach Population Estimate (HOPE). They’re enlisting volunteers to hit the streets, parks, and subways and count the number of people living without shelter in NYC. Teams of 4-5 volunteers will meet for a brief training and orientation at 10.30pm that Monday; the actual project of counting the homeless individuals will last from midnight till 4am. Anybody can sign up! So how about clicking here to register? Myself, I’ll be in LA that day so it would make me feel a whole lot better if you went in my place. 🙂
